Parking Stalls in Village District

The town’s road agent recently oversaw the painting of parking stalls throughout the village district.   The Board approved the repainting of parking stalls as they originally existed in the village; the expansion of parking stalls was not planned by the Board and the Board regrets the lapse in communication that led to the expansion.   We understand and see that several of these stalls abut quite closely to resident driveways.

As in so many municipal situations, interests and concerns are conflicting and competing.  While the Board may or may not have agreed to the expanded parking stalls had they discussed this as a projected plan, we now feel that they provide an organization to the parking in the village that, while not perfect, is an overall improvement.   Additionally, plans to remove or adjust them would carry a cost that the Board is not ready to assume.

We ask affected residents for their patience in living with the change and hope that it becomes manageable for all.

Recreation Committee – Members Needed

In early September, the Recreation Committee reviewed the 2016 Summer Rec Program in light of the Select Board’s concerns regarding the safety and security of the children.  While safety and supervisory issues were foremost, the Board had also received several questions and concerns regarding the activities being offered.  After much discussion, the committee determined that the current program needs extensive updating to meet compliance requirements, and programming expectations. It was determined that Summer Rec Program will not be offered in its previous format in the coming year.

Since that time, the Board has received several resignations from community members who have served either on the Recreation Committee or the Summer Rec Committee.   The Board is looking for volunteers to serve on a newly-constituted Recreation Committee that will help develop an overall plan for recreation in the town and can advise the Board regarding the future of summer rec offerings.  If you are willing and interested, please email selectboard@rollinsford.nh.us or call the town office.

Winter Parking Ban Reminder

The Rollinsford Police Department would like to remind residents the winter parking ban goes into effect November 15 and ends April 1. During this time all vehicles are prohibited from parking on any street between midnight and 6 am. Vehicles found in violation of the ordinance are subject to a fine and if found hindering snow removal operations, towed at the owner’s expense. All residences are required to have off street parking. Occupants of apartments should contact their landlord if additional off street parking is required.
