Notice: Temporary Moratorium on Obstructions and/or Laydowns – Newly Paved Downtown Streets

The Town has made a significant investment in the resurfacing of streets in the downtown village. To protect this investment and preserve the integrity of the new pavement for years to come, the Select Board has enacted a moratorium on any obstruction or placement of heavy equipment or dumpsters on the newly paved surfaces.

During this period, no verbal authorizations or written permits will be issued to contractors or residents for the placement of dumpsters or heavy equipment (for any length of time) on the new asphalt along the following streets. This moratorium will remain in effect until April 1, 2026:

  • Lower Mill Road (beginning at the intersection with Front Street)
  • Front Street (Town portion)
  • South Street
  • Second Street
  • Cross Street
  • Third Street
  • Fourth Street (100’ north of South Street intersection)

These large obstructions can settle into the fresh pavement, causing long-term damage to the roadway surface, especially during the summer months. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping preserve our downtown streets.
